The Leopard Gecko is one of few species of Gecko that posses eyelids helping to keep their eyes clean in their natural dusty environment. Unlike most other Geckos that posses adhesive toe pads the Leopard Gecko has small claws. Although preventing them from walking up vertical smooth surfaces the claws allows them to dig in the ground (something they will do when laying eggs) Leopard Geckos, like alot of lizards, can drop their tail when frightened or grasped in a process called caudal autotomy. In time the tail will grow back (about 4 weeks) however it will never look the same often taking on a bulbous apperance.
